Causes of Scope Creep
What is scope creep?
Scope creep is “the piling up of small changes that by themselves are manageable but in aggregate are significant.” These could be changes to the requirements or other components of the project. Possible causes include:
- ambiguous or unrefined scope definition
- lack of formal scope or requirements management
- inconsistent process for collecting project requirements
- lack of sponsorship and stakeholder involvement
- project length
