This insights article is about teacher leadership and organizational structure in regard to a restructured leadership structure in an Edison, NJ School. The big emphasis is on organizational behavior and the importance of proper structure to ensure control and accountability. The structure implemented at the Edison School differed greatly from traditional schools. The leadership structures, as it successfully distributed leadership influence and enhanced the nature and scope of teacher leadership. Principals must serve as instructional leaders and community leaders, while being visionaries who inspire and motivate others. Without the right guidance the students will not have the desire nor drive to succeed in school. The teachers will not show the dedication nor commitment to teach the students. They have to be able to set an example for kids to flourish and grow to be the best they can be. The designers of the Edison whole-school reform model felt that the traditional organization of schools is ineffective and inefficient, thus they attempted to replace the traditional organization and management of schools with a leadership team that empower a variety of stakeholders and included them in the decision-making process.
